Appellation areas have been created based upon shared characteristics such as soils, temperature and terrain that make each AVA and the wines produced therein unique.

To some the characteristic of the wines you will find on the accompany AVA pages are mere pretension, while to others they are precise terms used to better communicate the nature of the wines. Either way, it is interesting and fun to see how the wines you will taste during your tour match up to their descriptions.
